Bloaaaag Three.
Ok, so I have to admit ... Radiohead circa 2008/09 are the most mindblowing people in music to me.
I never thought they would come up with something like "In Rainbows", my by far favourite
record they made. Surpasses even "Kid A" ... and the live shows ... Look at that light show and
that setlist, playing everything from the new album, though still playing such incredible
milestones like "Everything In Its Right Place", "Pyramid Song" or even "Talk Show Host" from the
Romeo & Juliet soundtrack ...
And I keep watching them sometimes from a musician's perspective. Ed O'Brien must be the most
underrated musician in any band alive. What this tall man does with his guitar and effect board
is way more interesting to me than what maniac Johnny Greenwood does on guitar (he does a lot of crazy
incredible other things though, playing drum machine, ondes martinot, piano, rhodes, glockenspiel,
guitar and whatever else). Ed just uses those six strings to do stuff people always think is
keyboards and synths and programming or whatever.
And Phil Selway still is a very strange drummer. Not a rock drummer, always very concentrated to never hit an unexpected
"note". And Colin is such a goofball, jumping around like this is a party cover band.
I love those guys. Now more than ever before.
And this here must be a really unique video, compiled only of crowd video cameras and mobile phones,
watch this on YouTube, it's amazing:
